Since 2002, the National Election Watch (NEW) has stood as a guardian of democracy in Sierra Leone. As a coalition of over 450 national and international civil society and non-governmental organizations, NEW has been instrumental in promoting free, fair, transparent, and peaceful elections across the country.
What began as a mission to observe the electioneering process has evolved into a nationwide effort to monitor the entire electoral cycle — from voter registration and campaign activities to election day operations, vote tallying, and post-election dispute resolution. Our work ensures that every phase of the electoral process is conducted with credibility, inclusivity, and accountability. But we can’t do it alone.
